Police brutality against minorities is something that has been going on for decades. The recent events of the killing of African-American men is something that is sparking protest. Michael Brown, Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner are all men killed by a White person. Following these murders none of these men had justice. This has caused an uprising of many people who have had their last straw with the injustice of the political system. The thing is, it is not only the minorities who are finding errors in the ways of the political system, it is other privileged Americans who are becoming aware of the issue. In the past the privileged Americans in society were not as aware or involved with the indecencies that inequality brought about for minorities in this country. Now many people are seeing that it is the inequality, discrimination and racial oppression that is the root of the problem. In the article The Violence of the Status Quo, Buck highlights that the tanks that are being brought in to cease the protest is just the US government trying to come in and cover up what has been reviled. The issue with that is that it can’t be covered up. It is now brought to the light for everyone that the strongest nation too is at war with its own people. That we too are participating in violations against humanity. For the color of their skin. For the economical situation they put minorities in that has done nothing but oppress minorities. They can try all they want to cover up the issue but the media and tanks can not cover up the mess this time.
